If James and Lily had survived, I am positive that every time Harry got into trouble, there would be a huge betting pool on whether the next howler would be James and Sirius congratulating him or Lily screaming at him and commanding Severus to give him detention for a month. And as the Potter family owl would arrive, everyone would be silently anticipating the results, and at the end you’d see dumbledore discretely handing mcgonagall 10 galleons
why didn’t harry use the chamber of secrets when teaching dumbledore army? i mean, only HE could open the door?
because the giant basilisk skeleton might have been a distraction
if anything it sets the mood
Anonymous said: How do you know which pictures are fake and which aren't? some are exceptionally good. (honest curiosity here; no hate)
There’s lots of ways.
Sometimes, it’s just obvious. Like when the light/color/image quality of the heads don’t match the bodies, those are easy for me to spot.
Sometimes there’s pictures where someone is mistakenly identified as Misha, and if you look closely enough you can see it’s not really him. Take this photo, which was debunked by numerous sources (including fandomdebunker)… if you look closely you can see that the skin tone, lip shape, nose, and chin shape are all different from any photo of Misha.
There’s also often the obvious/wiggly ‘photoshop lines’ you can spot between Jensen and Misha in Cockles manips. I’m not an expert or anything, but they can be pretty obvious if you know where to look. Edges that don’t look the way edges look in the rest of the picture.
Sometimes I know it’s fake right away because I’ve already seen the original somewhere.
Nowadays a huge amount of the Cockles manips come from the same place: iren-supernatural. All her photos are posted under the “photo manipulation” tag on deviantart, but people find them and post them all the time on tumblr without adding that they’re fake. A lot of hers are very good, but they’re easy to spot because she watermarks them, (Sometimes the watermark gets cropped off my people, but by then I usually know where it’s from.) and uses a similar color filter on many of her finished images.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of “this is way too good to be true. I’ll investigate” … and I’ll use a reverse google image search to find the source of the image, which will sometimes lead me to the original, or to the post where it was made.
Then there’s the fake tweets. Those are pretty easy too. A lot of them have a delete button visible right on them. That’s when you can tell someone tweeted the words themselves, then pasted the celeb’s twitter information and some else’s retweets onto the image.
But even if it doesn’t have a delete button, there are other ways to find that out. Is the tweet on the celeb’s twitter account? If not, that’s one sign. Sometimes celebs delete their own tweets though, so there’s another way to tell. Any time a tumblr-popular celeb tweets ANYTHING, the tweet will appear all over their tumblr tag. Over and over, screencaps from twitter apps and the website, different sizes and colors depending on who made the screencap because everyone is rushing to be the first one to post it. If you can only find one version of a screencap for a celeb tweet, they probably didn’t really say it.
Wow, this got pretty long didn’t it? Well I hope someone finds this post useful. :)
